Why we really DO have the power to turn things to gold

I have always been fortunate to have been surrounded by people whose lifes’ stories propel me to work on my dreams, live for what I believe in and have the courage to seek the truth. One such man-someone in his late 70s, a successful doctor and an avid investor lead me to believe how you can actually turn things to gold. This relative of mine has a passion for flipping houses-buying a house underpriced and selling it to double the investment a few years .Every visit of his would be a pride-filled story of how he made an extra $100,000 selling his latest house.Ten years ago, he came with another story-the one that stuck with me till this day-the story of how he believed he could turn things to gold and he did.

He once came across a barren land closeby to his hospital that the owner was willing to let go for next to nothing. Being a curious real-estate investor he got to discussing this land with his peers and this nurse in particular told him it was a very bad idea to purchase the piece of land.He took on the challenge on buying the land anyway and taking on a bet with the nurse for turning it into fertile land. From then on , I saw a rather indolent doctor become a farmer-ploughing land and planting every possible plant that the land can contain. Two years later he decided to host a party celebrating his victory-the one that proved that after all, man can change what he believes he can and turn things around. His nurse was bewildered and refused to believe that it was the same barren land from two years ago.I remember vividly,he clenched his fists and declared proudly that he had the power to turn things to gold whilst narrating this new victory-filled story.

Often times when I feel dejected due my inabilities ,I remind my self that we human beings do have the Midas touch -the one innate ability to turn things around. All it takes is a little pride and belief that we can.
